g) Automatic Control of the Cooling/Heating Unit
The control depends on the settings in the function "F8", see chapter 8. f).
Depending on the connected devices, either the operating mode "0" or "1" must be selected. Usually, the
operating mode "0" (basic setting) is used for connection of a unit that can cool and heat at the same time
(e.g. an air conditioner).
Observe the operating instructions of all devices that you want to connect to the temperature controller.
Target temperature and hysteresis value (function "F1")
The cooling/heating unit connected to the temperature controller is controlled automatically depending on the settings
of the function "F1" (hysteresis value) in the setup menu and the target temperature.
Example: Temperature threshold = +10 °C
Hysteresis value (function "F1") = 3 °C
When the temperature measured via the temperature sensor is above +13 °C, the temperature controller starts cool
-
ing; the LED "
" (2) lights up. At a temperature of +10 °C, the temperature controller switches off the connected
devices; the LED " " (2) goes out again.
When the temperature sensor measures a temperature above +7 °C, the temperature controller starts heating; the
LED "
" (10) lights up. At a temperature of +10 °C, the temperature controller switches off the connected devices;
the LED " " (10) goes out again.
This way, the temperature controller always keeps the temperature in the range of +7 °C.....+13 °C via the connected
cooling and heating units (or air conditioner) (target temperature ± hysteresis value).
After activation of the temperature controller via the button " " (7), the connected cooling/heating units are
only activated after the time set in function "F4".
Delay time for cooling/heating operation (function "F2")
A delay time can be set via the function "F2" to avoid frequent changes between cooling and heating.
Example: Delay time (function "F2") = 20 minutes
An internal timer will start after switching off the cooling or heating unit. Before the end of the delay time of
20 minutes, the temperature controller will not switch between cooling and heating.
The air movement in the room for which the temperature is controlled depends on the cooling or heating unit,
the mounting site of the temperature sensor and the shape/size of the room.
After deactivation of the cooling unit, the temperature may therefore still drop a little before stabilising. If the
hysteresis value (function "F1") was chosen too low, the temperature controller may start heating to maintain
the target temperature.
Similarly, the temperature may still rise a bit before stabilising after deactivation of the heating unit. If the
hysteresis value (function "F1") was chosen too low, the temperature controller may start cooling to maintain
the target temperature.
The delay time "F2" prevents this continuous switching back and forth between cooling and heating.
