Electrical System
Battery Cables
When replacing battery cables, always use multi-
strand copper cables of the same gauge (or better) as
those already installed in your boat by the boat builder.
If you are unsure of the gauge to be used, consult your
dealer. The maximum length is 20 feet per cable,
regardless of diameter.
NOTICE!
Do not use aluminum core battery cables.
Failure to use battery cables of recommended gauge
and material could result in poor starting and electrical
component damage.
Battery
Battery Requirements: Replace the battery with one
that has the same (or more) cold cranking amps and
reserve capacity as the battery installed in your boat
by the boat builder. See
Technical Data
for your engine
for minimum battery requirements. If you are unsure of
the battery to be used, consult your dealer.
NOTICE!
Failure to use a battery of recommended
specifications could result in poor starting and electri-
cal component damage.
NOTICE!
Do not use deep cycle batteries to start the
engine. A deep cycle battery, while it may have enough
cold cranking amps (CCA), does not have enough volt-
age to power the ECM and will cause problems with
the engine.
