Group 87 Climate Control, Fault Codes
Troubleshooting
MID 146 SID 13 Temperature Sensor, Heat Exchanger
T8008634
T8008566
Component:A34 Climate Control Unit, E32 Climate
Unit
General information
The sensor transmits the signals with the current
temperature to the control unit so that it does not increase
the fan speed when there is no heat to blow into the
cab. The temperature sensor is located in the upper left
section of the climate control unit.
Fault code
FMI 3
Abnormally high voltage or short-circuit to higher voltage.
Conditions for fault code:
•
If the control unit detects a voltage higher than 4.9V
the control unit interprets this as an error and a fault
code is stored.
Possible cause:
•
Connector to sensor disconnected
•
Signal cable short-circuited to higher voltage
•
Ground lead short-circuited to higher voltage
•
An ECC control unit was mistakenly installed in place
of an MCC control unit
Reaction from the control unit:
•
Fault code is stored
•
Yellow lamp requested
Noticeable external symptoms:
•
Yellow lamp lights up
•
Considerably reduced temperature control
Appropriate check:
•
See “MID 146 SID 13 Temperature Sensor Heat
Exchanger, Check” page 25
•
Check control unit part numbers for correct installation.
Wrongly installed parts may appear to function
correctly, but will give very poor cooling/heating
performance.
FMI 4
Abnormally low voltage or short-circuit to lower voltage
Conditions for fault code:
•
If the control unit detects voltage below 0.24V the fault
code is stored
Possible cause:
•
Signal cable short-circuited to ground
•
Faulty temperature sensor
Reaction from the control unit:
•
Fault code is stored
•
Yellow lamp requested
Noticeable external symptoms:
•
Yellow lamp lights up
•
Considerably reduced temperature control
Appropriate check:
•
See “MID 146 SID 13 Temperature Sensor Heat
Exchanger, Check” page 25
