• Do not use this appliance for any application other
than stated in this booklet.
• After removing the appliance from its packaging,
make sure that it is intact: if in doubt consult a
qualified professional or Vortice. Do not leave
packaging materials within the reach of children.
• The use of this appliance by young children or
incapacited people must be under supervision.
• Do not operate the unit in the presence of inflammable
vapours (alcohol, insecticides, petrol, etc.).
• When not in use, disconnect the unit from the
supply, and store out of the reach of children or
incapacitated people.
• The appliance is not intended for use by young chil-
dren or infirm persons without supervision.
• Young children should be supervised to ensure that
they do not play with the appliance.

• Do not make modifications of any kind to your unit.
• The unit must not be exposed to atmosheric
conditions (rain. direct sunlight, etc.).
• Ensure that the main supply is switched off before
making any electrical connections or carrying out
maintenance or cleaning.
• Intall the unit following these instructions.
• The unit must beinstalled by a suitabily qualified
electrician..
• Do not place any object on the unit.
• Regularly inspect the unit. Should the unit suffer
damage, fail to operate correctly, or if a fault is
found, switch off the supply, and contact Vortice.
Always make sure that original Vortice spare parts
are used.
• The installation and wiring must conform to current
IEE Regulations (UK) local or appropriate
regulations (other countries). It is the installer's
responsibility to ensure that the appropriate Building
Codes of Practice are adhered to.
• The unit must not be used to activate water heaters,
stoves, etc., nor must it extract into their flues.
• Since the unit is double insulated, it does not need
to be earthed.
• When intalling the unit, a double pole isolation
switch must be fitted with a minimum contact gap of
3 mm.
• The extracted air must be free of grease, ash,
corrosive aents, and inflamable mixtures.
• The unit must extract either directly to the outside, or
into a duct used only for that purpose.
• When installing the unit in a room containing an
open flued appliance, the installer must ensure that
there is adequate air replacement for both the fan
and fuel burning appliance.
• Do not cover or obstruct the inlet grille of the unit.
• The appliance must be mounted so that the impeller
is out of reach on the outlet side (as determined by
the Standard Finger Test, Fig. B), in accordance with
current safety regulations a suitable accessory must
be fitted.
• Care must be taken not to damge the electronic
circuit board.
• The timer is set to the default minimum setting of 3
minutes. You can change the setting to any value
between 3 and 20 minutes by adjusting the timer’s
potentiometer (see fig. 11).
Note
• If the unit is to be mounted on the ceiling,
replace the mylar spring (already fitted to the
fan), with the thicker one contained in the
accessories bag (Fig. 7).
• If mounting on an uneven surface, align the unit
by placing a suitable spacer between the wall
and the unit.
