object on the belt and observe. If the belt and the idler stop but the motor continues to turn,
the belt is not tight enough and the friction with the motor is inadequate.
If the belt shifts, normally this signifies the idler adjustment bracket (Interroll 6.002) might
require adjustment.
o
If the belt shifts to the same side regardless of direction (forward or backward), the idler
and the motor are not parallel to each other or square with the conveyor table.
o
If the belt shifts to the opposite side when the belt direction is switched, the adjustable
rollers may not be perpendicular to the belt (or parallel to the motor and idler) and
applying a force on the belt dependent on the belt direction.
o
If the belt shifts to one side, for example the idler, the problem area is close to the idler
or the idler itself.
The motor side is crowned. This means the surface is higher in the middle of the drum
relative to the sides. This is done on purpose to track the belt to the middle. The idler is not
crowned and its surface should be identical from edge to edge.
Tools:
½” Hex head socket wrench
To re-align the belt, proceed as follows:
1. Remove all power to the scanner.
2. Ensure the belt is in the middle, both on the Motor and the Idler ends.
3. Verify the adjustable lifting roller is pushed away from the motor or idler (towards the center
of the scanner).
a) Motor: Move the motor bracket (Interroll 6.009) away from the center of the conveyor
table. The distance between the edge of motor drum and edge of table is approximately
5.0”.
b) Idler side - Adjust bolt of idler adjustment bracket (Interroll 6.002) such that the distance
between the edge of th
e idler drum and the edge of the table is approximately 5.0”.
4. Re-apply power and start the conveyor belt by pressing a direction button on the Operator
screen.
5. Run the belt in the forward direction (motor pulling) and note to which side the belt shifts. Do
not let it shift beyond the edge of the motor or idler drums.
In the forward direction, the adjustment roller on the idler side is the most effective. If the belt
shifts to the left, tighten the left side Tapbolt. If the belt shifts to the right, tighten the right
side Tapbolt. .
