The XR3D-6 safety features include:
Feature
Description
Shielding
Shielding built into the scanner prevents radiation leakage.
Protective Drapes
A double layer of offset protective drapes at both ends of the tunnel to prevent radiation leakage.
Shrouds extending from the protective drapes prevent people from reaching inside the tunnel.
X-ray Warning Labels
X-ray warning labels located near both ends of the tunnel.
Warning labels are placed on the XR3D to indicate caution should be used around the
openings to the tunnel.
An icon (
) displays on the operator screen indicating when X-rays are being
generated.
Photo sensors
Infrared sensors to trigger the generation of X-rays only while items are present in the tunnel.
Indicator Lights
Indicator lights on top of the unit provide a visual indication of the XR3D status. Green lights indicate
the scanner is powered on, but there are no X-rays being generated. Red lights indicate the scanner is
generating X-rays.
Emergency Shut Off
The Emergency Stop buttons remove power from the X-ray source and conveyor. Depressing one of
the emergency stop buttons located on the scanner immediately stops the generation of X-rays and
the conveyor. The computer and one monitor remain powered by the UPS until the emergency stop
button is released by turning it clockwise.
Interlock Switches
Interlock switches to prevent X-rays from being generated when the access panels of the XR3D are
open.
Locked Access Panels
Locked access panels prevent tampering by unauthorized persons.
Safety Mat (optional)
The XR3D optional pressure sensitive mat ensures that an operator is in front of the scanner during
operation. If no one is standing on the mat, the X-ray source does not start. Stepping off of the safety
mat while generating X-rays immediately stops X-ray generation.
Operator Key
Security Passwords
Intelligent Software
A key is required for operation of X-ray scanner.
User Identification and software passwords required by all operators.
Disables the X-ray source if a system malfunction is detected.
