The Controller uses the Galaxy 2-way HSIA 1.0 or Micros FIAS 2.20 interface to create
local accounts with last name/room number. There is no serial interface support at
this time. All communication to the PMS Server happens over TCP network
connections. Local accounts are generated with parameters as defined in the
Gateway. Guests enable access and connection speed according to the service tier
that they select on the billing page.
U s ag e b a s e d ch a r ge s
Every hotel guest has a valid access account upon checking in, but no charges are
posted unless the guest actually attempts to access the internet and logs in using
their
last name
and
room number
. After logging in, the customer has unlimited
user of their account until they check out or need to pay for more time. The access
time in the account continues to expire whether the guest is actively using the
internet or not, so plan for this when determining account times.
Ro om Ch a n ge s
The PMS system automatically reports any room changes such as moves or splits.
However, already paid accounts will not be changed. This means moved or checked
out guests can continue to use the room and last name they originally paid for until
it expires. This does not create any conflict with a different guest logging in from
that room. If they login with a new room this will create a new paid account. Checked
out guests will not be able to create a new paid account.
