This manual has instructions on how to
set up and register your new handset. For
instructions on using the handset, see the
Abridged user’s manual that came with your
telephone base.
What’s in the box
Your product package contains the following
items. Save your sales receipt and original
packaging in the event warranty service is
necessary.
Install the battery
Install the battery as shown below.
NOTES
Use only supplied battery.
If the handset will not be used for a long time,
disconnect and remove the battery to prevent
possible leakage.

Use only the adapters provided.
The adapters are intended for a vertical or floor
mount position. The prongs are not designed to
hold the plug in place if it is plugged into a ceiling,
under-the-table, or cabinet outlet.
Charge the battery
Once you have installed the battery, the
battery indicators show the battery status
(see the following table).
NOTES
For best performance, keep the handset in the
charger when not in use.
The battery is fully charged after 12 hours of
continuous charging.

Before use
Add and register a handset
You can add new
VC7100A
cordless handset
to your
VC7151-202A
series telephone
system, Your telephone system supports a
maximum of five handsets.
Register each handset with the telephone
base before use. After charged, each
expansion handset alternately displays

Charge the handset for at least 30 minutes
before registering it to the telephone base.
To register a handset:

when the registration process completes. The
registration process takes about 90 seconds to
complete.

Deregister all handsets
To replace a handset or reassign the
designated handset number of a registered
handset, you must deregister all handsets and
then individually register each handset.
To deregister all handset:
Press and hold
/FIND HANDSET
on the
telephone base for about 10 seconds,
when the telephone base shows

Check for dial tone:
Press or
on the handset or on the
telephone base. If you hear a dial tone, the
installation is successful.
If you do not hear a dial tone:
Make sure the installation procedures
described above are properly done.
It may be a wiring problem. If you have
changed your telephone service to digital
service from a cable company or a VoIP
service provider, the telephone line may
need to be rewired to allow all existing
telephone jacks to work. Contact your
cable/VoIP service provider for more
information.
Operating range
This handset and telephone base can
communicate over only a certain distance -
which can vary with the locations of the
telephone base and handset, the weather, and
the layout of your home or office.
When the handset is out of range, the handset
displays
Out of range OR

If there is a call while the handset is out of
range, it may not ring, or if it does ring, the call
may not connect well when you press or .
Move closer to the telephone base, and then
press or
to answer the call. If the handset
moves out of range during a telephone
conversation, there may be interference. To
improve reception, move closer to the
telephone base.
