CIF. Common Intermediate Format. A video format with an
image size of 352 pixels by 288 pixels that transmits 36.45 Mbps
at 30 frames per second.
codec. coder-decoder. A device that encodes an incoming analog signal
into a digital signal for transmission to another codec, which decodes the
digital signal into analog format. In videoconferencing, a codec typically
codes and decodes video and audio.
composite video. A television signal where the chrominance signal is a
sine wave modulated onto the luminance signal which acts as a subcarrier.
Used in NTSC and PAL TV systems.
