Thread tension
Correct upper thread tension
1 Left side of the fabric (bottom)
2 Right side of the fabric (top)
3 Upper thread
4 Lower thread
Set the thread tension to “4” for the most
commonly used stitches.
In the following cases, the thread tension must
be determined by trial and error:
- when using special threads or special
fabrics.
- if the recommendations do not lead to the
desired results.
Generally, the upper and lower thread should
cross over in the middle of the fabric
(exceptions for stitches and applications are
listed).
Loosening the upper thread tension
Turn the upper thread tension dial upwards to
loosen to upper thread tension (3..2..1).

7 Right side of the fabric (top)
8 Visible loops on the top of the fabric
