Troubleshooting
Problems with threads and stitches
Before arranging for maintenance or repair, check the following points. If the problem persists, contact
your nearest customer service centre.
Problem
Solution
1 Upper thread
breaks
1 The upper thread was not threaded correctly.
1 Rethread the upper thread.
2 The upper thread is tangled.
2 Remove the thread ends and rethread the upper
thread.
3 Spool was not inserted correctly.
3 Insert the spool correctly.
4 Incorrect needle in use.
4 Insert the correct needle.
5 Rotary hook is damaged.
5 Contact our customer service.
2 Lower thread
breaks
1 The upper thread is tangled.
1 Remove the thread ends and rethread the upper
thread.
2 The bobbin was inserted into the bobbin case or
threaded incorrectly.
2 Insert the bobbin correctly into the bobbin case and
pull out the lower thread.
3 Faulty or
skipped
stitches
1 The needle was not inserted correctly.
1 Insert the needle correctly.
2 Incorrect needle in use.
2 Insert the correct needle.
3 Incorrect combination of needle/thread/fabric.

4 Lint and dust under the needle plate.
4 Clean the space under the needle plate using the
cleaning brush.
5 Upper thread was not threaded correctly.
5 Rethread the upper thread.
4 Fabric is
puckering
1 The thread is not threaded correctly.
1 Rethread the upper and lower thread.
2 Incorrect needle in use.
2 Insert the correct needle.
3 Incorrect combination of needle/thread/fabric.

4 The thread tension is set incorrectly.

thread tension
1 The upper thread was not threaded correctly.

2 Insert the bobbin correctly into the bobbin case and
pull out the lower thread.

4 The presser foot holder was not attached correctly.
4 Reattach the presser foot holder.

1 Stitch length set to “0”.

2 The wrong presser foot is being used for the
selected stitch.
2 Insert the correct presser foot.
3 Incorrect needle in use.

4 Remove the thread ends from the bobbin case and
the hook case.
2 Needle breaks
1 The needle is not inserted correctly.
1 Insert the needle correctly.
2 Incorrect needle in use.

3 Incorrect combination of needle/thread/fabric.

4 The fabric is pulled too strongly.
4 Guide the fabric without pulling it when sewing.
3 Machine does
not start
1 Power switch is set to “O”.
1 Switch on the machine.
2 Power plug is not plugged in.
2 Plug in the power plug.
3 Hand wheel is pulled out.
