Checking the hook race for damage
Carry out the following steps:
1.
Remove the
‹needle plate›
.
2.
Insert the W6 plastic bobbin in the black
‹hook race›
.
3.
Pull the lower thread through the two slots on the left-hand side of the
hook race.
4.
Thread the upper thread, see “What do I do with the upper thread?”
> “Threading the upper thread”.
!
Thread the thread through the needle as well.
5.
Lift the lower thread, see “What do I do with the upper thread?”
> “Using the upper thread to pull up the lower thread” and pull it up by about
15 cm.
!
Hold the upper thread with your other hand.
6.
Turn the
‹hand wheel›
several times forwards towards you.
!
If the thread gets caught or snags, then the hook system
is damaged.
» The hook race has been checked for damage.
W6 tip
Minor needle strikes on the hook race can be removed carefully using fine emery
paper (for example 800 grit).
If the hook race is severely damaged by needle strikes, it must be replaced. You
can order a new hook race from our W6 Wertarbeit online shop (Spare Parts
category).
