DESCALING YOUR WABI BABY
TM
STERILIZER
Just like all appliances with water heating elements, calcium deposits or
scale may build up after the water evaporates. Scale is non-toxic, but if left
unattended, can hinder appliances’ performance. Descaling your Wabi Baby
sterilizer on weekly basis helps maintain and extend the life time of the heating
element. Depending on the mineral content of your water, calcium deposits may
build up faster, making it necessary to descale more often.
TIP: The mineral content of water varies greatly by region, so we always recommend using filtered
water to slow down scale buildup.
METHOD 1 - USING DESCALING MODE
Only available on the PLUS models and for use with food-grade citric acid
(WA-8810N, WA-8811N).
1.
Fill the Measuring Cup with 100 ml water. Pour it onto the Heating Plate to
cover the entire rim, but do not exceed the maximum level.

Add 1 teaspoon of citric acid powder to the water.
3.
Place the Chamber on the Electric Base Unit, then close the Lid. Please
make sure that no other items are inside the Chamber.
4.
DESCALING
No-scrub descaling with citric acid.

The descaling mode takes 35 minutes—5 minutes of heating the cleaning
solution and 30 minutes of cooling.

When the cycle is finished, the unit will beep 3 times.
WARNING: DO NOT use any other cleaning solution with this mode—doing so may cause
heating of the cleaning solution resulting in serious chemical reactions or odors.
CITRIC ACID
Use only 100% food grade citric acid in powder form. One teaspoon of citric acid would be
a good starting amount for weekly descaling. Please mix according to the manufacturer’s
instructions, and adjust the amount according to your situation.

When the cycle is finished in the chosen mode, the unit will beep 3 times
and shut off automatically.

Allow the unit to cool for 10 minutes before opening the Lid. Be careful to
avoid any residual steam.

Use the included Tongs to remove the sterilized items. Handle with care as
the items may still be hot.
HOW TO CLEAN
By performing regular maintenance on your WABI BABY
TM
sterilizer, you will
prolong the life of the unit and ensure that it continues to operate at maximum
efficiency.
• Bottle/Plate Rack, Accessory Tray, and Lid: top-rack dishwasher safe.
• Chamber: bottom-rack dishwasher safe.
• Electric Base Unit:
a.The surface can be wiped with a damp cloth.
b.The Heating Plate requires weekly descaling. Please choose one of the
methods listed here.
