Changing the engine oil
WARNING
Burn hazard.
The operating oil temperature in the diesel engine
is more than 93°C (200°F). Skin contact with hot
oil will result in severe burns.
►
Stop the engine and wait until the engine oil
drain plug is comfortable to touch before drain-
ing the oil.
ENVIRONMENTAL NOTE
Avoid environmental damage.
Collect old engine oil in a large enough container
to avoid spillage and dispose of it in an ecologically
sound manner.
Refer to Section 10.6, page 155 »Specifications and
filling quantities« for replacing the drained engine
lubricating oil.
Adding engine oil
If the fluid level is under the »Maximum« mark, the fluid
must be added:
1.
Open the oil filler neck Item 2 (Fig. 66).
2. Add the engine oil.
3. Check the oil level.
4. Add engine oil until the oil level is at the »Maximum«
mark.
5.
Close the oil filler neck Item 2 (Fig. 66).
Use the correct oil grade (see Section 10.6, page
155 »Specifications and filling quantities«).
Use a funnel with tube extension as aid for filling.
