SERIAL TABLET PROBLEMS
The computer does not have
an available serial port.
You will need to add a serial communication port to your computer or
remove a serial device.
The tablet status LED is off.
Be sure your computer is off before disconnecting or connecting your
tablet.
Make sure your tablet cable is properly connected to your computer.
Be sure you are using the AC power adaptor that came with your
tablet; it should be plugged into an active wall outlet and securely
connected to the Intuos tablet cable. Refer to
for instructions. Also, be sure you have turned the power switch on.
If the tablet’s status LED still does not turn on, you may have a
defective tablet or power adaptor (see
A Wacom serial tablet
connected to the modem port
will not work, or is not found by
the Wacom software at startup.
If you have a Global Village fax/modem installed, the G

extension will cause the Wacom tablet not to be seen. If you
are sharing a port between the Wacom tablet and a Global Village
modem, be sure to disable the G
LOBAL
V
ILLAGE
T
OOLBOX
extension
when you wish to use the tablet.
If your Macintosh has an internal modem, the external modem port is
disabled and cannot be used.
If you have had a fax/modem installed on this port, make sure the fax
software is turned off or disabled.
Check your Wacom cable connector for bent or missing pins. Serial
tablets should have 8 pins.
