2. Set the Variable Voltage switch to the proper voltage for the accessory.
3. Select the proper adapter plug for the accessory.
4. Each adapter plug is marked for both positive (+) and negative (-) polarity. Match
the arrow on the DC Power Coverter Cable (female end) with the arrow on the side
of the adpter plug that displays the polarity of the device you are charging.
IMPORTANT: REVERSED POLARITY WILL RESULT IN PERMANENT DAMAGE TO THE
ACCESSORY. VERIFY THE POLARITY AND VOLTAGE OF THE ACCESSORY, AND USE
AN ADAPTER WITH THE DC POWER CONVERTER CABLE ACCORDINGLY.

5. Attach adapter plug to cable and make sure the adapter plug engages snugly into
the accessory input socket for the proper power connection.
6. Insert the output jack (male end) of DC Power Converter cable into the DC outlet of
the unit.
7. Push the master switch to the “OUTPUT” position and run normally.
Sample Run Times for Accessories
The following are approximate times that common accessories can be expected to run and
function normally while being powered by the unit:
Cell phones
4 hours of talk time, 5 days of stand-by mode.
Camcorder
2.5 hours (0.6A load), 3.6 hours (0.4A load)
Spotlight
1 hour (25 watt bulb), 2 hours (12.5 watt bulb)
Camping lantern (4 watt)
3.5 hours
CD player (3 watt)
5 hours
Checking the Built–In Battery Level
1. Push the master switch to the “BATTERY READER” position.
2. The Charge Level Indicator lights will indicate whether the built-in battery’s charge
is at full, half, or empty.
3. Recharging is recommended when half charge is indicated, and is needed
immediately when empty is indicated.
Charging the Deluxe Power Backup (from vehicle DC power)
1. Connect one end of the Male-to-Male 12V Car Power Cord to the unit, and the
other end to the vehicle’s 12V socket.
2. Let the unit charge for 30 to 60 minutes while the engine is running.
Do not leave this unit plugged into the 12V socket when the vehicle is not running.
It will not recharge, and may drain power from the car battery.
3. Unplug after charging is done and use the Battery Reader to determine if a full
charge has been achieved.
Note: The Deluxe Power Backup can also be charged with an optional AC home charger
(not included).
