Opening the Command Interface
To use AT commands, there must be a connection to the command interface of
the WSA, i.e., there must be wireless connection to the SPP “CONFIG” service or
the interface by a PLC application must be opened by mode switching.
Access possible via PLC or SPP “CONFIG” service!
Access to the command interface by the PLC and access via the SPP “CONFIG”
service are mutually exclusive. If the command interface is in use, access is
possible both ways. If the PLC already has access, connecting to the SPP
“CONFIG” service is no longer possible. Conversely, if there is already a
connection to the SPP “CONFIG” service and if the PLC attempts to open the
command interface, the WSA restarts and the wireless connection to the SPP
service is disconnected. If a connection is re-established to the SPP service, the
PLC program gains regular access to the command interface over other competing
external configuration access.
A connection can be established using the SPP “CONFIG” service similar to
establishing a connection using the SPP “DATA” service.
To open the command interface from the PLC via the service interface, the PLC
program must send the character string “+++” preceded and followed by a one-
second transmission pause.
If the command interface is opened via the SPP interface directly, the character
string does not need to be sent.
If the interface is opened successfully, the WSA outputs a welcome message that
contains central device information, such as the version status.
Welcome message is hardware/software specific!
For access via the SPP “CONFIG” service, the welcome message may not appear
depending on the hardware and software used on the PC side. In this case, use an
AT command to test the connection, e.g., the welcome message is output again
via “AT INFO”.
