1  Safety Information

Do not work when devices are energized!

High voltage can cause electric shock or burns. 

Switch off all power to the device prior to performing any installation, repair or main

tenance work.

Live parts are likely to be touched!

The party setting up the device is responsible for providing appropriate touch guards. 

 

The installation regulations must be observed for each individual application.

Do not stare into openings of the connections when no cable is connected, so as not 

to expose the radiation. It can emit invisible radiation. It concerns here a laser class 1 

according EN 60825-1.

Please especially observe the following:

•  The device described in these instructions shall only be installed by a qualified electrician 

according to both EN 50110-1/-2 and IEC 60364.

•  Before startup, check the device for any damage that may have occurred during shipping. The 

device shall not be put into operation in the event of mechanical damage.

•  Only install this device in closed electrical service locations in accordance with EN 50178.

•  Only install this device in dry indoor rooms.

•  Do not install the devices on or in the vicinity of easily flammable materials.

•  Ensure sufficient cooling of the device. 

•  Use the device exclusively on LANs. Never connect this device to telecommunications net

works such as analog or ISDN telephone systems. 

The device must be used exclusively in accordance with these notes and the complete instructions

4  Mounting

Avoid electrostatic discharge!

The devices are equipped with electronic components that you may destroy by 

electrostatic discharge when you touch. Please observe the safety precautions against 

electrostatic discharge in accordance with EN 61340-5-1/-3

Pay attention while hand

-

ling the devices to good grounding of the environment (persons, job and packing).

4.1  Mounting

Mount the device vertically (power connection up).

 

Use of other mounting positions is at the user’s own risk.
Install the device in accordance to EN 60715 by snapping it onto DIN-rail.

1.  Place the device with its DIN-rail guide on the top edge of the DIN-rail.

2.  Press the device onto the DIN-rail and lock the device into place.

4.2  Removal

1.  Push the device downwards to detach it.

2.  Tilt the device forwards and unhook it from the DIN-rail.

5  Connection

5.1  Female Connector

The female connector serves to connect the power supply (PWR).

The following conductors can be inserted directly without tools:

•  fine-stranded conductors with insulated ferrule, all cross sections

•  fine-stranded conductors with uninsulated ferrule, cross section > 0.25 mm²/AWG 22

•  solid conductors, cross section > 0.25 mm²/AWG 24

5.2  Communication

Close unused ports with the rubber covers included with the delivery.

6  LEDs und Error Signaling

The LEDs (green), which are visible on the front, indicate the following states:

•  LED PWR (3) is illuminated in green: 

use of the primary power supply

•  LED PoE (4) is illuminated i green: 

PoE power is present. 

•  LED 1000 (6) is illuminated in green: 

1000 Mbps connection in operation

•  LED LNK/ACT (7) is illuminated in green:  connections linked

•  LED LNK/ACT (8) flashes green:  

data traffic via connection
