WAGO-TO-PASS®

761-510 GPRS Modem, RS-232
Manual
Version 1.0.2
The number of permitted attempts to enter the PIN is limited by the SIM card.
Normally, three attempts are permitted, i.e., you may enter the PIN incorrectly
twice and on the third attempt, the PIN must be entered correctly or you will have
to enter a PUK code (PUK =
P
ersonel
U
nblocking
K
ey) to unblock the SIM card.
LED S (Status) is blinking fast
If LED S is blinking fast (4 times per second):
•
The SIM card was either not recognized, or
•
The SIM card was PUK blocked because the wrong PIN was entered too
many times.
Make sure that the SIM card has been correctly inserted in the device (see
Inserting the SIM Card).
Check whether the SIM card is SIM blocked. Insert the SIM card into a normal
cellular telephone. The telephone will display whether the SIM card is PUK
blocked. If the SIM card is PUK blocked, enter the PUK and then a PIN. Ideally,
use a cellular phone.
Before inserting the SIM card into the
TO-PASS
®
modem GRPS RS-232 again,
identify why the SIM card was PUK blocked: What PIN did you enter or what
PIN does your application send to the
TO-PASS
®
modem GRPS RS-232?

Information about switching the SIM card!
Change the PIN in your application or in the PLC program block when switching
the SIM card to the PIN of the new SIM card.
If you use several SIM cards, it makes sense, for example, to give all SIM cards
the same PIN with a normal cellular telephone. Observe your security guidelines
for handling SIM cards.
PIN-less SIM cards
The device also works with SIM cards in which the PIN prompt is turned off. In
this case, the PIN prompt is simply skipped and the device attempts to log into a
GSM network immediately.
