Sound Parameters
Waldorf M consists of numerous sound-shaping compo-
nents.
•
Sound synthesis: Oscillators with wavetable generators
(two modes available: Classic Microwave 1 and Mo-
dern Microwave II/XT), VCF Analog Filters and VCA
Amplifier. These modules represent the audio signal
flow. Sound generation actually occurs within the oscil-
lators. They can produce different wavetables. The VCF
analog filter shapes the sound by amplifying (boosting)
or attenuating (dampening) certain frequencies. The
VCA amplifier are located at the end of the signal chain.
It determine the overall volume of the signal.
•
Modulators: LFOs, Envelopes. These modules are called
Modulators. The Modulators are designed to manipula-
te or modulate the sound generating components to
add dynamics to sounds. The Low-frequency Oscilla-
tors (LFOs) are designed for periodic or recurring mo-
dulations while Envelopes are normally used for mo-
dulations that only occur once on each note. These ge-
nerators are assigned to parameters on the correspon-
ding display pages and influence these parameters to
alter a sound.
