channel is longer than 1 meter, including a bend of 90 degrees, the channel’s diameter will need to be increased.
To adjust the position of the external air supply, switch the connection piece with the cover plate by unscrewing
the bolts on the respective components.
Connecting the stove
The Elm is a heavy wood stove. Depending on the version, the Elm weighs at least 180 kilos, including the 2-meter
long smoke-gas discharge. Make sure the wall or fl oor that you are installing the stove on can easily carry this
weight. Before installing the stove, follow the directions in the previous chapter ‘Preparation’. Protect your back and
the fl oor during installation.
Top or back connection
The Elm can be connected at the top or the back of the furnace. The furnace is supplied with a top connection as
standard. To change the position of the Elm, follow these steps:
1. Remove the top plate and back panel.
2. Unscrew the exhaust gas connection.
3. Unscrew the cover plate of the back connection.
4. Install the exhaust gas connection at the back.
5. Install the cover plate at the top of the furnace.
6. Use pliers to remove the recess from the back panel or pry it back and forth a few times to loosen it.
7. Put the back panel and top plate back in place.
Installing the Elm without the base
1. Check the packaging, and report any visible damages.
2. Take the furnace out of the box (mind your back).
3. To better manage the full weight of the furnace, you can remove the top plate, the side panels and the back
panel by lifting them from the furnace; again, make sure to mind your back.
4. Carefully place the furnace in its place, right below the chimney.
5. If you removed the side panels, the back panel and the top plate, put them back on the furnace.
6. Install your exhaust gas connection.
Installing the optional base
1. Check the packaging, and report any visible damages.
2. Take the base from the box.
3. Place the base in its place, right below the chimney.
4. Lift the furnace from the box and remove the top plate, the side panels and the back panel by lifting them
from the furnace. Mind your back.
5. Place the furnace on the base.
6. You will see two holes on both sides, which you can use to install the furnace onto the base with M6x20 bolts.
7. Place the side panels, the back panel and the top plate back on the furnace.
8. Install your exhaust gas connection.
