Operating and installation instructions
Cutoff relay
Keep for future use
Valid from 27 January 2009
General information
Fig.1 Cutoff relays
The cutoff relay is a contact multiplier that makes it possi-
ble to simultaneously operate two (or more in a series) sun
shading drives using a single operating element (switch) or
via the output of a single motor control unit. The drives are
supplied via a separate outside line (phase). The cutoff relay
is equipped with terminals for connecting the lines, making
it possible to form larger drive groups that can be controlled
globally. Because of its compact design, the cutoff relay can
be mounted in a flush-mounted junction box.
Intended use
The device was developed to control sun shading sys-
tems. The approval of the manufacturer must be obtained
for uses outside of the purposes listed in these instruc-
tions.
Safety instructions
WARNING
The electrical installation must be per-
formed by a certified electrician in accord-
ance with the electrical installation regu-
lations published by the Association of
German Electrical Engineers (VDE 0100)
or the standards and regulations of the
country. The specialist must observe the
installation instructions included with the
electrical device.
WARNING
If hazard-free operation cannot be as-
sumed, the device may not be started or
must be deactivated. This assumption is
justified
If the housing or the supply lines show signs
of damage,
The device is no longer working.
WARNING
It is important to comply with the follow-
ing instructions in the interest of personal
safety.
Do not allow children to play with the operating ele-
ments of the control or remote control. Store the re-
mote controls out of reach of children.
Make sure that no persons or objects are in the range
of movement of the driven parts (blinds, window, etc.).
Disconnect the device from the supply voltage if clean-
ing or other maintenance work must be performed.
Information on the electrical installation
An on-site overload current protection device (fuse) and a
disconnecting and isolating switch to switch off the entire
system must be provided.
The device meets the EMC directives for use in residential
and commercial areas.
Installation
The cutoff relay is intended for installation in a flush-mount-
ed junction box ∅70 mm.
Only such lines as are used for the wiring of the re-
ceiver should be routed into this box.
The unit is electrically connected according to the wiring
diagram on the reverse.
Handling the spring terminals
Fig. 2 Connecting and disconnecting the line connections
After the wire is stripped, it is pressed into the terminal (1)
until the insulation on the wire enters the terminal and the
line is securely held in the terminal (2). To disconnect the
line, the appropriate unlock button needs to be pressed in
as far as it will go using a screw driver, and the line then
removed from the terminal (3).
Commissioning
The device is operational after the installation has been
completed and the supply voltage applied.
