Use of the printer
8 USE OF THE PRINTER
8.1. General warnings
Reading this chapter requires knowledge of the contents of paragraph 1.5 “General safety warnings” for the safe
use of the printer.
In addition, the specific requirements for interacting safely with the printer, relating to this chapter, are detailed
in the following paragraphs.
ATTENTION:
The operations relating to these activities must be carried out by authorized and professionally
qualified personnel.
8.2. Adhesion to the bed
Adhesion to the plate occurs during the deposition of the first printing layer and is essential for the success of
the print.
The fundamental points of a good adhesion are:
•
Correct leveling of the print bed
•
Glue for adhesion (chosen according to the material)
•
Correct speed and flow in the first printing layer
•
Adequate print bed temperature (PLA 60 ° C, ABS 100 ° C)
If the extrusion of the material is particularly low or even absent, check that:
•
The extruder does not print too close to the surface (preventing extrusion during printing)
•
The extruder temperature is actually that necessary for the material used.
•
It is recommended to check that the first printed layer adheres well to the plate
8.3. Autocalibration
Autocalibration is a command that performs an automatic calibration of the height and leveling parameters. The
autocalibration works with both Pellet and Spitfire extruders.
1. Make sure that the surface and the nozzle are sufficiently clean
2. With the machine off, bring the extruder with the nozzle in contact with the print bed
3. Loosen the knob A that locks the extruder calibration sensor (fig 8.3a)
4. Drag (without letting it slam on the bed) the calibration sensor B until it touches the print bed (fig 8.3b)
5. Turn on the machine
6. Launch the command PRINT> AUTOCALIBRATION (fig 8.3c)
7. Wait for calibration to complete
8. Return the calibration sensor to its guide and secure it well with the knob. (fig 8.3d)
IMPORTANT: to obtain the best result, bring the bed to the temperature that will be used during printing before
launching the autocalibration command.
