Watkiss BookMaster Service Manual - Issue 1 - 04/12/00
Installation
•
Installing the BookMaster with a Watkiss Vario collator
from the right side of the machine (as for a right handed operator hand feeding
the unit).
Procedure
1. Switch off the BookMaster and disconnect from the mains supply.
2. Remove the right hand side cover (2 screws) and the rear cover (5 screws).
3. Remove the black curly communications cable by unclipping the cable ties
and unplugging from the BookMaster control board.
4. Take the supplied drill jig 251-430 and position it on top of the BookMas-
ter so that the large hole aligns with the existing large hole. Check that
there are no cables underneath, and then drill through the two pilot holes
using a 3mm (1/8”) drill. Remove the jig and enlarge the holes to 5.5mm
(7/32”).
5. Take the new cable 742-402 and, starting at the control board, feed it
through the same path and up through the large hole. Secure using the
existing cable clips.
6. Remove the two M5 nuts and shakeproof washers from the back of the
offline control panel. Plug the cable into the rear of the offline control
panel.
7. Route the cable on the underneath of the panel so that the panel sits flat on
the surface of the BookMaster.
8. Fit the shakeproof washers and M5 nuts to secure the offline control panel
to the BookMaster. Tighten using an 8mm spanner.
9. Replace the side cover of the machine.
10. Unplug the BCP from the BookMaster control board. Move the program
link switch to position 1 (on) and then switch on the unit.
11. Load BookMaster software version 1.3a onwards which is included on
Vario 7.1a software onwards (see 4.3.1 ‘‘Loading Software’’).
12. Switch the unit off and put program switch back to 0 (off).
13. Reconnect the BCP cable into the BookMaster control board.
14. The original black curly communications cable should be stored with the
machine, and we recommend it is stored in the base of the BookMaster for
future use if required.
15. Replace the back cover.
16. Switch the unit on and commence use.
