Chapter 8 Trouble Shooting
Trouble shooting for operational problems are included in the relevant operat-
ing manual and are not repeated here.
As with all trouble shooting, the best practice when trying to identify a fault,
is to only make one correction or adjustment at a time.
In the trouble shooting chart reference is made to online use with a Watkiss
Vario collator where applicable.
8.1 Trouble Shooting Chart

SOLUTION
BookMaster will not start
Fuse(s) blown
Check fuses on mains input/PCBs. (see
section 1.10 ‘‘Fuses’’)
Fuse holder is loose
Check fuse holders on PCBs. (see sec-
tion 1.10 ‘‘Fuses’’)
Staple on tachometer magnet
Remove staple from magnet
Paper jammed at infeed or staple sensor Remove paper jam and reset
BookMaster or TrimMaster safety
switch not made
Check BookMaster and TrimMaster lids
are closed. Check and adjust switch if
necessary (see 3.2.14 ‘‘Guard Switch
Adjustment’’).
Axes are still moving to size
Wait for axes to finishing moving (BMP
only)
BMP thinks axes are still moving to size
Use PICI on terminal emulator to obtain
diagnostics (see 4.3.2 ‘‘Terminal Emula-
tor Mode’’).
BookMaster Pro will not start up and
there are three error beeps
Software corrupted (can be caused by
faulty Interface PCB)
Reload BookMaster software (see sec-
tion 4.3.1 ‘‘Loading Software’’). Replace
Interface PCB if necessary (see section
3.2.13 ‘‘PCB Removal and Fitting - Gen-
eral Comments’’). Ensure good earth
connections throughout.
BookMaster Pro will not start up and
emits continuous error beeps, slow yel-
low LED on constant
Zerox PCB 900-100 is not fitted to 900-
141 Interface PCB or Zerox is faulty
Fit/replace Zerox PCB.
Fast beeps
28V rail problem
Replace fuse F2 or Interface PCB 900-
141 (see section 3.2.13 ‘‘PCB Removal
and Fitting - General Comments’’)
TrimMaster will not start
Interface connection between BookMas-
ter and TrimMaster poor
Ensure power and comms cables are
connected. Fit new if faulty.
BookMaster or TrimMaster safety
switch not made
Check BookMaster and TrimMaster lids
are closed. Check and adjust switch if
necessary (see 3.2.14 ‘‘Guard Switch
Adjustment’’).
Outfeed Conveyor does not work
Cable not connected to BookMaster/
TrimMaster
Connect
