Trouble Shooting
•
Adjustment axis will not park
(BMP/TMP only)
Home microswitch faulty causing axis
to adjust back and forth
Check red wire on pin 2 of microswitch
for breaks. If wiring is sound replace
microswitch
Axis mechanism slide or threaded shaft
is dirty, restricting movement
Clean mechanism using a dry cloth
Adjustment axis will not go to correct
position
Motor control PCB 900-152 corrupted
Re-reference the axes.
If necessary change the 900-152 PCB
Encoder PCB (on the motor) is not func-
tioning correctly
Check for staple wire on the axis motor
tacho magnets.
Change axis control motor if necessary
BookMaster cuts out intermittently
Fuse loose in fuse holder
Tighten fuse holder. (see section 1.10
‘‘Fuses’’)
BookMaster or TrimMaster safety
switch not made
Check BookMaster and TrimMaster lids
are closed. Check and adjust switch if
necessary (see 3.2.14 ‘‘Guard Switch
Adjustment’’).
Folding problems
Folding not square
Infeed sidelays are adjusted too tight/
loose
Setup the BMS/BMP correctly (see
BMS/BMP operating manual)
Fold stop out of square
Square the BookMaster mechanism
(see section 3.2.11 ‘‘Squaring Up Pro-
cedure’’)
Sheets bouncing on stitch latch
Increase settle time (BMP only)
Top jog is hitting top of set (BMP only) -
adjust or calibrate
Adjust top jog (see BMP operating man-
ual) or recalibrate (see section 3.3.3
‘‘Top Jog Belt Calibration’’)
Sheets bouncing on fold stop
Select long sideknock (BMP only)
Paper is not cut square
Cut paper square in future
Obstruction such as paper fragment or
staple wire jammed in fold area
Remove obstruction
Booklet does not fold in correct position Sidelays are too tight, booklet not falling
onto the fold stop
Adjust or calibrate sidelays
Home microswitch not calibrated cor-
rectly
Re-calibrate the home microswitch (see
3.3.1 and 3.3.2).
Booklet damaged on the inside of the
fold
Fold knife damaged
Replace fold knife (see section 3.2.9
‘‘Fold Blade Replacement’’)
Fuse problems
Fuses keep blowing
Fuse holder loose/damaged
Tighten/replace fuse holder (see section
1.10 ‘‘Fuses’’)
Staples shorting solenoid/PCB
Look for debris and remove
Interface PCB 900-141 faulty
Replace PCB (see section 3.2.13 ‘‘PCB
Removal and Fitting - General Com-
ments’’)
Jamming problems
Paper jams in BookMaster infeed area
Infeed sidelays too tight
Adjust sidelays correctly
BookMaster is not central under Vario
tower
Centralise BookMaster
