LED 2 on the Staple Head Control Board provides the following diagnostic
information.
8.3.4 Manually firing the staple head
For checking staple head and clincher operation it is possible to fire each staple
head manually. When diagnosing problems, it is important to remember that
the clincher receives its operational trigger from the staple head.
Warning
The BookMaster must be switched on when carrying out this procedure. To
prevent damage to the machine or personal injury, use extreme caution. Only
touch components where instructed to do so.
1. Undo the five retaining screws and remove the stapler cover panel.
2. With the BookMaster turned on; unplug the data/power bus from PL1 on
the relevant staple head control PCB (900-156).
Fast flashing
the controller is functioning correctly and the 28V
supply is OK
Slow flashing
the board is in addressing mode. (The main board
will always try to set to normal mode, so if this LED
is slow flashing then there must a comms fault to
the main board.)
Off
indicates a fault condition or no power
