2. Remove both the side panels and the rear panel.
3. To provide a clear line of sight when adjusting the roller/blade alignment
it is necessary to remove the L/H drive belt tension plate from the machine.
Unscrew the four M5 x 10mm retaining screws and carefully remove the
guard plate (care must be taken not to dislodge the three nylon washers
located on the top pulley shaft). Once the tension plate is removed the
washers can be placed to one side to avoid loss.
4. With one hand, release the fold clutch by pulling the latch outwards. At the
same time rotate the flywheel anti-clockwise with your other hand to move
the blade forward approximately 25mm (1”) from its parked position to
within 12mm (½”) of the fold rollers.
5. Push one of the fold roller lever arms away from the adjustment cam to
open the fold rollers. Insert a 150mm (6”) steel rule between the rollers,
close to the edge of the outfeed aperture, until it is within about 1mm of
the fold blade. Repeat on the R/H side of the machine.
CAUTION
Never force the rules between the rollers or pull them out to retrieve them as
damage may occur to the machine.
6. Looking in from the side of the machine it is now possible to check the
alignment of the fold blade with the steel rules.
• If the blade and rules are aligned then no adjustment is necessary.
• If either one or both rules do not align with the blade then adjustment is
required.
7. On BookMaster models the fold blade is used as a datum on all squaring
up procedures. The fold rollers therefore need to be adjusted so that they
are aligned with the blade. This adjustment is made using the two plastic
cams located centrally between the fold roller lever arms. To adjust, insert
two suitable pins (such as 4mm allen keys) into the holes in the cam.
Rotate the cam whilst visually checking for blade/gauge alignment. Adjust
one side at a time and then re-check to ensure correct alignment is
achieved.
