BookMaster Standard
Procedure - Staple Lid
The staple lid assembly is mounted to the BookMaster on two pivot block
adjusters. Essentially this means that the whole assembly can be tilted to allow
fine tuning of the staple position.
1. Set the BookMaster axes for A3>A4 size booklets.
2. Handfeed two sheets of A3 paper into the machine and examine the staple
position. If the book is folded squarely but the staples are not parallel to
the fold then check the staple latch for squareness (see Procedure - Staple
Latch). If the staple latch is square then the staple lid will need adjusting.
3. Using a 3mm allen key, remove both side panels from the BookMaster.
4. Located centrally at the top of each side panel are three M6 cap headed
screws, which are fixed into the pivot block, through two radiused slots
and one fixed top hole. To adjust the staple position slacken the three
screws using a 4mm allen key and manoeuvre the bottom screw forwards
to raise the staple or manoeuvre backwards to lower the staple. Adjust the
lid until the staples are parallel.
5. Engage edge staple mode by pushing the edge staple lever down and feed
two sheets of paper into the machine. Examine the staple legs and check
that they have been clinched correctly i.e. the legs are as straight and par-
allel as possible. If not, re-adjust the staple lid assembly.
6. Ensure that the adjustment screws are tight and then replace the side pan-
els.
3.2.12 Drive Motor Replacement
Procedure
1. Switch off the mains power supply and disconnect the power lead.
2. Remove the L/H side panel and rear panel.
3. Place some foam or other soft material on the floor (to prevent damage to
the BookMaster paintwork) and carefully lay the machine on it’s back so
that the base plate (253-038) is accessible.
4. Unscrew the two M5 x 10mm retaining screws and remove the tacho
mounting bracket (253-088) from the L/H wheel plate assembly (908-
883).
5. Remove ‘C’ clip from the wheel pin shaft (165-581) and remove the L/H
wheel plate assembly.
6. Unscrew the three M5 x 10mm retaining screws from the R/H side of the
base plate and remove it from the machine.
7. Using a 4mm allen key unscrew the flywheel retaining bolt and remove the
flywheel assembly.
8. Disconnect the drive motor electrical connector.
9. Note the position of the four M4x12mm retaining screws, and then
unscrew them and remove the drive motor and drive motor spacer plate.
Note: You will have to balance the lid assembly using both adjusters so that the sta-
ples are parallel and clinched correctly when edge stapled.
