5.7 BookMaster Pro - After-Build Inspection Notes
These notes complement the test sheet on the previous page.
After-build inspections are not normally necessary after a BookMaster Pro has
been despatched from the factory. Details are included however as a thorough
inspection may sometimes be required.
Section 1 - Visual checks
1. Check all painted surfaces of the machine for blemishes or damage.
2. Check that all guards are fitted:
• 2 side covers
• Perspex fold latch guard
• Rear panel
• Top cover and stapler cover panel
3. Check the position of the staple heads:
• Set the position of the staple heads for A4 Paper
4. Check that the clinchers are correctly positioned below the staple heads
and locked.
Section 2 - Pre-run setting up
1. Check all wiring and connections:
• Check all the wiring behind the rear panel and make sure the connec-
tions are correctly fitted
• Check that no wires are positioned where they can catch or rub
2. Check voltage settings:
Caution
• Before switching on the machine, check that the voltage tappings
on the mains transformer are set correctly
3. Check which software is installed in both machines and upgrade if re-
quired.
4. Check the RE-REF function, after altering the settings for SKNOCK to
100ms and SETTLE to 300ms.
5. Test the infeed sensor:
• Check that top knock (top jog) moves down and parks back in its orig-
inal position
• Check that the fold knife fires
6. Check tampers engage when staple lid is lifted:
• Check that the tampers engage and disengage crisply and do not stick
or drag in any way
7. Hand-feed 2-sheet sets and 6-sheet sets of A4 into the BookMaster Pro and
check booklets:
• Check all the booklets are square, correctly folded, check the staple
quality, and check both staples are central on the spine
8. Check top knock is correctly calibrated and correct as necessary
9. Check calibration of all adjustments.

10. Check that the outfeed conveyor is working (if fitted):
• Check that the timing and length of the out-feed varies according to
booklet size
