Step 1: Installing the Plastic Fuselage Top Deck
❑
Using a pair of scissors and a modeling knife, carefully
cut out the plastic fuselage top deck along the molded scribe
lines, as shown.
☞
Make sure to cut out the two air-intake holes on each
side of the forward area of the top deck, too.
❑
Using 220 grit sandpaper with a sanding block, carefully sand the edges of the top deck smooth and straight.
❑
Start installation of the fuselage top deck by first peeling
back about 1" of the protective backing from one strip of
double-sided tape.
❑
Set the top deck into place, making sure that the front of
the top deck overlaps, and is firmly pushed against, the front
of the fuselage. With the base of the top deck even with the
bottom edge of the double-sided tape, adhere the forward
section of the top deck into place, as shown.
IMPORTANT
The fuselage top deck is held in place using two strips of double-sided tape, which have been
preinstalled on the fuselage sides. It's not difficult to install the top deck, but it's important to take your time so you
don't introduce any wrinkles or buckling in the top deck during installation. To align the fuselage top deck properly, the
bottom edges of the top deck should be even with the bottom edges of the double-sided tape.
❑
After adhering the first inch of the top deck into place, carefully pull another inch of protective backing from the double-
sided tape and carefully adhere that section of the top deck into place, making sure that the base of the top deck is even
with the bottom of the double-sided tape. Do this until you have one side of the top deck completely adhered into place.
