❑
Working with one landing gear wire for now, secure the landing gear
wire to the wing, using one nylon landing gear strap and two M2 x 8mm
wood screws. Position the nylon landing gear strap approximately 3/8"
in from the outside edge of the landing gear wire, and make sure that
the middle of the landing gear strap is centered over the landing
gear wire.
☞
To make it easier to install the wood screws, drill 1/16" diameter
pilot holes into the landing gear mounting block, being careful not to
drill through the top of the wing.
❑
Repeat the previous procedures to install the second nylon landing gear strap over the other landing gear wire.
STEP 2: INSTALLING THE LANDING GEAR STRUT FAIRINGS
❑
Test-fit one strut fairing onto the outside surface of one landing
gear strut. When aligned properly, the top of the strut fairing should be
against the prebent coil in the landing gear strut and the strut fairing
should be straight when viewed from the front.
❑
When satisfied with the fit and alignment, carefully glue the strut
fairing to the landing gear strut, using a thin layer of 5 minute epoxy.

✦
✦
There are right- and left-hand landing gear strut fairings. When installed, the angle on the top of the strut fairing
should match the angle between the bottom of the wing and the landing gear strut.
☞
So that the epoxy sticks better, use 220 grit sandpaper to roughen the gluing surfaces.
❑
Repeat the previous procedures to install the second landing gear strut fairing onto the other landing gear strut.
STEP 3: INSTALLING THE WHEELS
❑
Working with one landing gear wire for now, slide one brass collet (non-flanged side first) onto the axle, then slide one wheel onto
the axle and up against the brass collet.
❑
Slide a second brass collet (flange side first) onto the axle and up
against the wheel.
❑
Center the wheel and double-check that it spins freely, then carefully
crimp the two brass collets, using a pair of wire cutters, to secure the
brass collets into place.

✦
✦
✦
Wire cutters work best for crimping the brass collets onto the landing gear wire, but be careful not to cut
completely through the landing gear wire.
❑
For extra security, apply a drop or two of thin C/A to the outer edge of each brass collet to help secure them into place, then
repeat the previous procedures to install the second wheel onto the other axle.
