CLICK 172/174
The Click 172/174 cards are also able to display counts and speeds of the vehicles in the
lanes being monitored for verification. This means that you can verify performance without
having to depend on the data logger or controller.
To verify count, follow the steps listed below once the Settings switch is in position 3 (Run
Setting). (Count can be verified in pulse, presence, or one loop speed operating modes.):
1
Press the Select button until “Co” is displayed.
2
Press the Channel button until the desired lane is displayed. If more than one lane is
being monitored, one option will be to show counts for all lanes. To select this option,
press the Channel button until “AL” is displayed.
3
The card will now start counting from 0 to 99. To restart your count, press the Select
button until “Co” is displayed again.
To verify speed, follow the steps listed below once the Settings switch is in position 3 (Run
Setting). (Speed can only be verified in the one loop speed operating mode.)
1
Press the Select button until “SP” is displayed.
2
Press the Channel button until the desired lane is displayed. If more than one lane is
being monitored, one option will be to show speeds for all lanes. To select this option,
press the Channel button until “AL” is displayed.
The card will now start displaying speeds in miles per hour or kilometers per hour depend-
ing upon your sensor configuration.
Fail-safe Mode
The Click 172/174 rack cards have a fail-safe feature. The rack card enters fail-safe mode
by placing a constant call on all contact closure outputs (turning on all associated LEDs)
when communication between the sensor and the rack card are lost for approximately one
minute.
If communications are restored, the device will restart normal operations as soon as the
next message is received. If the Click 172/174 is in Actuation mode, the card will normally
receive a heartbeat message from the sensor within approximately 100 milliseconds. If the
Click 172/174 is using any of the other modes, the card will restart normal operations when
the next event message is received or within one minute, whichever is sooner.
If the rack card is in fail-safe mode (constant call on all channels), you can check connec-
tivity to the sensor by connecting an RS-485 to RS-232 converter (Click 304) to a T-bus
expansion slot next to the sensor’s Click 200. Connect a straight-through cable from your
computer to the DB-9 connector on the Click 304. This will give you access to the sensor’s
native RS-485 communication link, which should be reliable for cable runs as long as 600
feet.
