4.4. When To Use Your Breast Pump
• If possible. After sufficient in milk secretion and breastfeeding time normally. Usually two or four weeks after
birth the baby.
• In the following cases, you can always use your breast pump:
-If you are breasting for the baby in the hospital
-If your breasts are bulging (with swelling), you can suck out a part between two feeding time to relieve pain,
this also make it easier to suck for baby.
-If your nipple pain or cracking, you can suck out the milk for feeding until the nipple back to normal.
-If you need to separate with your baby and hope to continue breastfeeding, when reunion, breast milk can be
sucked out periodically to maintain milk secretion.
4.5.Hints To Help You Succeed
Using a breast pump takes practice. You may need to make several attempts before you succeed.
• Choose a quiet time when you are not rushed and unlikely to be disturbed.
• Breast position usually sitting back and perpendicular to the ground. Please put in your back a comfortable
cushion before breasting. Sitting could may all breasting process more relax and more comfortable. Make
sure you have a glass of water nearby as expressing can be thirsty work.
• Placing a warm cloth on your breasts for a few minutesbefore you start pumping can also encourage your
milk flowand soothe painful breasts.
• Warmth and relaxation can help so you might like to tryexpressing after a warm bath or shower.
• Try expressing from one breast while your baby is feedingfrom the other, or continue expressing just after a
feed.
• Repositioning the pump on your breast from time to timecan help stimulate your milk ducts. Practice with
your pump to find the best pumping techniques for you. If the process causing you breast pain, stop
immediately and consult a doctor at once.
• Breast Pump Use Errors
Breast pump is a tool to help postpartum women to ease the pain and a helper to extend the breastfeeding
time. It uses the premise that there is sufficient milk and smooth
mammary gland. Some women are the first time to be a mother, often appear mammary gland not smoothly.
Some of them were caused when a congenital nipple inversion, or

4.6. How To Store The Milk
• Only milk collected with a sterile pump should be stored to be fed to your baby.
• Breast milk can be stored in the baby bottle warmer in 40

• If you are storing freshly expressed milk, please seal the milk, breast milk can be stored 10 hours in room
temperature in 19-25

.
• Expressed breast milk can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 48 hours (not in the door)or in the freezer for
up to 3 months.
• Frozen breast milk must first thaw in the refrigerator naturally. If urgent, can soak and thaw in the kettle.
After thaw, breast milk can be stored in the refrigerator for 24 hours.
• NEVER refreeze breast milk.
• Frozen breast milk can be heated gradually in warm water or heated with baby bottle warmer.
