2. Safety information
2.1 Safety provisions
Read the instruction manual carefully. It is part of the O
2
Box Rescue and must be available
at all times. Use the box for the designated purpose only (see "1.1 Purpose" on page 6).
For your own safety and that of your patients, and in accordance with the requirements of
Directive 93/42 EEC, please observe the following points:

Box Rescue
Caution!
• Only use the O
2
Box Rescue if you have a medical education and have received
training in respiration technology. Improper use may lead to serious physical
injury.
• Before working with the O
2
Box Rescue, you should understand how to handle it.
• Do not throw the O
2
Box Rescue.
• Always place the O
2
Box Rescue on a level surface.
• Do not stack more than five O
2
Box Rescue boxes on top of each other.
• Do not sit or lean on the boxes and do not rest anything on them.
• Do not place the O
2
Box Rescue in liquids (e.g. water).
• Always keep the fittings and the box clean and free of oil and grease.
• Please observe the section "4. Hygienic preparation" on page 13 in order to avoid
infection or bacterial contamination.
Oxygen
Warning!
Highly compressed oxygen in conjunction with combustible substances (grease, oil,
alcohol etc.) may give rise to spontaneous explosive reactions.
• Always keep the units and all screwed unions free of oil and grease.
• Do not allow liquid to enter the unit.
• Be sure to wash your hands before working on the oxygen supply.
• Smoking and open flames are strictly prohibited in the vicinity of fittings carrying
oxygen.
