To use a supplied flow signal for automatic flow analyses, the
Weinmann SOMNO
lab
PC software, for example, uses a
scanning rate of 32 Hz.
•
In some systems, flow analysis only works perfectly if flow is
supplied in the form of an alternating voltage signal, e.g. at -1
to +1 V AC.
•
For SOMNO
lab
, always use the flow supplied by the therapy
device for analysis. The signal supplied is of a better quality
than the flow signal measured directly and is processed better
by the PC software.
3.4.2 Calibration
With some systems, it is possible to calibrate the zero point and a
value in the centre of the measuring range. Note the following
points for calibration.
•
You frequently have to simulate breathing with a breathing
mask for calibrating signals so that values such as leakage, for
example, can be used.
•
In the initialization phase, some signals such as rRMV are
calibrated internally over a limited period and are therefore not
displayed correctly. In this case, simulate breathing beyond the
initialization phase.
3.5 Calibration data
3.5.1 Explanation of abbreviations
Signal Description
Pressure
Current therapy pressure of therapy
device
OPS
Oscillating pressure signal to distinguish
between central and obstructive apneas
Flow
Patient’s current respiratory flow rate
Leakage
Flow lost as a result of breathing mask
being put on incorrectly
