Product description
The WEM system consists of several different devices (WTC, SG, etc.), hereinafter re-
ferred to as WEM devices. Each of these WEM devices contains one or more modules
(module 1, module 2, etc.). The WEM/KNX Gateway enables central control and moni-
toring of WEM devices via the KNX network. To do this, the gateway must be connected
to the system device of the WEM system (via IP). The gateway then provides the bi-di-
rectional data exchange between WEM and KNX TP1, and is used to convert the data.
The data and settings of the WEM devices can be read and updated over the KNX net-
work or vice versa. Data conversion is designed for up to 62 WEM devices. The sending
of data on KNX side is configurable. The firmware can be updated via the IP network (by
using a HTML browser).
3.1
WEM Interface
The data of devices are read out regularly from the WEM system to be stored in the
gateway. For each communication object, it can be set whether a newly saved value is
sent to the KNX bus only on request or automatically. If the automatic sending of a group
object is selected, for numeric values a sending difference can also be set (so that no
unnecessary telegrams are sent when differences are too small). Thus, when the send-
ing difference is set and a parameter value exceeds this difference (between new and
last stored group object value), the value is sent via the communication object to the con-
figured group addresses in the KNX network.
3.2
KNX Interface
On the KNX side, the gateway simulates a KNX device and behaves like a further device
of the KNX system. When a group object of the KNX network changes, this change is re-
ceived via the corresponding communication object, then stored in the gateway and (ac-
cording to the setting) sent to the WEM system to update the corresponding value in the
WEM device.
3.3
IP Interface
Via Ethernet/IP, the gateway can also be accessed directly. For information about actual
settings and addresses stored in the gateway, a web frontend is available. It can be ac-
cessed by a HTML web browser. For example, the device is displayed in the Windows
network and a double-click opens the web frontend in the default browser. All connec-
tion-relevant information is shown here. Also, a table containing the devices of the WEM
system including module addresses (stored as a *.csv on the SD card of the system de-
vice) is displayed in a user-friendly format. Programming mode can be activated and de-
activated remotely, without having to press the on-device programming button. With the
update function, the gateway firmware can be updated via IP. The web frontend can also
be accessed via both the IP address and the MAC address.
