PREPARATORY WORK AND SAFETYCHECKS
IMPORTANTWARNING
Thisstove must not be installed into a chimney that serves any other heating appliance. Theremust not be an
extractor fan fitted in the same room as the stove as this can causethe stove to emit fumes into the room.
CHIMNEY
Chimney Connection
Flue Diameter 125 mm
IMPORTANT:
Oncethe stove is unpacked and checked it is necessary to remove the central bar from the flue collar of
the stove before installation. To remove unbolt collar remove bar and replace collar.
When installing your stove with a 125 mm /5” flue please ensure to fill drain hole at rear of cast collar with fire
cement so to prevent any potential leakage of flue gases.Usea proprietary brand of heat resistant fire cement and
ensure that enough cement is used to completely fill the area.
In order for the stove to perform satisfactorily the chimney height must be sufficient to ensure an adequate
draught so as to clear the products of combustion and prevent smoke problems into the room.
Minimum draft: UNIQ36/ WF36Pedestal and UNIQ37/ WF37Pedestal stoves has been tested with a draft of
12 Pa. Maximum draft 25 Pa.
Flue gas flow 7.0 g/sec.
Flue gas temperature 303°C. approximately 12 Pa.
NOTE:Achimney height of not less than 4.5 metres measured vertically from the outlet of the stove to the top of
the chimney should be satisfactory. Alternatively the calculation procedure given in BS5854:1980 may be used as
the basis for deciding whether a particular chimney design will provide sufficient draught.
Theoutlet from the chimney should be above the roof of the building in accordancewith the provisions of Building
Regulations Approved Document J.
If installation is into an existing chimney then it must be soundand have no cracksor other faults which might allow
fumes into the house. Olderproperties, especially, may have chimney faults or the crosssection may be too large
i.e. more than 160 mm x 160 mm. Remedial action should be taken, if required, seeking expert advice, if necessary.
If it is found necessaryto line the chimney then a flue liner suitable for solid fuel must be used in accordancewith
Building Regulations Approved Document J.
Any existing chimney must be clear of obstruction and have been swept clean immediately before installation of the
stove. If the stove is fitted in place of an open fire then the chimney should be swept one month after installation to
