ICoT Minimum Configuration
A-
Make sure that the positioner is commissioned. There are several ways to do it and this is host or
control system dependent. Generally, “commissioned” status means that the positioner has an
operational address and tag name.
B-
Check or modify the following parameters as shown below:
•
RESOURCE BLOCK
o
MODE_BLK
, TARGET to “Auto” mode
o
TRANSDUCER BLOCK
o
MODE_BLK
, TARGET to “Auto” mode
o
ACT_TYPE
to, for instance, “Rotary” or “Linear” as per the ICoT assembly
•
ANALOG OUTPUT BLOCK (AO)
o
CHANNEL
to “1”(I t can show up as “Channel 1” or “Position”, according to the host used)
o
SHED_OPT
to “NormalShed_NormalReturn”
o
PV_SCALE
, UNITS_INDEX to “%”
o
XD_SCALE
, UNITS_INDEX to “%”
o
MODE_BLK
, TARGET to “CAS” mode
C-
Download the above configuration. This is host or control system dependent
.
Please consult the host system instructions before proceeding.
After these three simple steps, the positioner is ready to be operated. Generally, most applications need
additional configuration. To insert the positioner in a control loop, for instance, it is necessary to link the
function blocks’ inputs and outputs, define if additional blocks or parameter configuration are necessary
in order to meet the control loop and the application requirements.

There are other data such as network configuration data, system configuration data that are usually
downloaded by the hos control system in order to enable the proper behavior of the ICoT in a FF segment
or network.
