Using
Before first Use
Unpack the tachometer and check it for any damage in transit.
Dispose of packaging materials or store them out of reach of
children. Plastic bags etc. may become a deadly toy for children!
Inserting/Replacing the Batteries
When the low battery indicator
appears in the display, the
batteries must be replaced.
To replace the batteries, remove the screw from the battery com-
partment cover located at the bottom of the unit. Remove the battery
compartment cover and replace the spend batteries with four
batteries of the same type (1.5 V, LR6 (AA)). Make sure the batter-
ies are inserted with correct polarity. Polarity symbols are located in
the battery compartment. Reattach the battery compartment cover
and secure it with the screw.
DC Operation
The unit can also be operated from any wall socket using a 6 V DC
power adaptor. A suitable power adaptor can be purchased from
Westfalia under the article number 80 31 16.
Measurements
Non-Contact RPM Measurements
1. Before measuring, make sure the sensor (1) is clean and without
any damage.
2. Attach a strip of reflective tape about 2 cm long to the object to
be measured. The longer the strip of tape is, the easier the
measurement will be.
For objects rotating very slowly (less than 60 RPM) use several
strips of tape spaced around the object evenly and divide the
reading by the number of strips of tape.
