PHASES OF WILLOW
While pumping, you are going to hear several different sounds that indicate which phase
you are in. Many women transition to Expression within 2 minutes, but this can vary.
If at any point you experience excessive discomfort, decrease suction or pause the
pump, then break latch and make sure you are aligned properly.
INITIATE LATCH
Louder, slower sounds
The Pump is establishing
suction. Remember
to hold Willow securely
against your breast.
STIMULATION
Short, quick sounds
Pump cycles quickly to
encourage ‘let-down.’ Milk
will start to flow - check the
App to see your progress.
EXPRESSION
Slow, quiet sounds
Pump has detected
let-down. Note: You
cannot go back to
Stimulation phase.
