9.2.1
Replacing the mechanical seal
Dismantling
See Fig. 1:
• Disconnect the system from the power and secure it against being
switched on.
• Close the shut-off devices in front of and behind the pump.
• Open the air vent valve (Pos. 1) to depressurise the pump.
WARNING! Danger due to extremely hot or extremely cold pressu-
rised fluid!
Depending on the temperature of the fluid and the system pres-
sure, when the venting screw is opened completely, extremely hot
or extremely cold fluid in liquid or vapour form may escape or shoot
out at high pressure.
• Always exercise caution when opening the venting screw.
• Remove the protective grid (Item 9).
• Loosen the screws (Item 2) between the lantern (Item 3) and the
pump housing (Item 4) and remove the motor with lantern.
• Loosen the screws from the box coupling (Item 5) and remove the
impeller part (Item 6).
• Remove the mechanical seal (Item 7).
• Remove the mating ring (Item 8) from the seat.
• Clean the seat of the mating ring and press the new mating ring in the
pump cover (Item 10).
• Check and clean the shaft.
Installation
• Push a new mechanical seal onto the shaft.
• Insert the shaft in the box coupling through the pump cover.
• Push the motor and pump shaft together and tighten the screws of
the box coupling cross-wise.
• Fix the coupling protection in place.
• Clean the sealing surface and screw the plugin set on the pump hous-
ing, insert a new flat gasket.
• Restart the pump, see Chapter 8.1 “Filling and venting” on page 28.
