USING THE MARKING IRON
MAIN CONNECTION
The unit may only be connected to a single-phase main circuit with the same voltage as demanded on
the machine’s rating plate. 230 V machines can also be connected to 220 V main current circuits. The
main circuit must be equipped with a 16 Amp fuse. The machine may only be connected to an earthed
socket. Additionally we recommend using a residual current circuit breaker.
SWITCHING ON AND OFF
The marking iron is switched ON as soon as the plug is connected to the main circuit. Disconnect the
marking iron plug from the main circuit to switch it OFF.
USING THE MARKING IRON
1) Ensure that the rated voltage on the machine label agrees with the local main voltage.
2) Check that the insert (e.g. a marking stamp (3)) is securely fitted before you heat up the de-
vice.
3) Connect the marking iron (1) to the main circuit.
4) Never heat up the marking iron without a tip fitted.
5) The tip (e.g. marking stamp (3)) may only be removed from the marking iron when it is
switched off. Crew the tips as far as they will go into the tip holder.
6) Allow the marking iron to cool down after you finish work. Do not cool by rinsing under water.
7) Place the marking iron on the stand (7) during breaks in your work.
CAUTION!
The main cable is sensitive to heat. Ensure that the cable does not come into contact with a hot
part of the device or a tip – for example a marking stamp (3). Damaged main cables may only
be replaced with a genuine replacement cable, available from the manufacturer or the manufac-
turer’s customer service representative.
Main cables may only be replaced by the manufacturer or an authorized service centre!
CAUTION!
To prevent the risk of fire, always rest the device on the stand provided or on a
similar non-flammable surface.
Always disconnect the device from the main circuit after finishing work. Allow the device to
cool down to room temperature until you put it away.
Keep children out of the area.
WORKING WITH THE MACHINE
Firstly, make a sketch of the desired pattern on your workpiece with a pencil or alternatively apply
a ready-made template to the workpiece.
Types of wood with smooth surfaces are particularly suitable for marking.
When marking wood with a rough surface, be aware that it can be difficult to guide the tip along
the line required. In this case the surface should be sanded first.
Connect the plug to the main circuit socket and rest the marking iron (1) in the supply stand (7) un-
til the working temperature is reached after approximately two minutes.
Begin by testing the device with the ‘universal’ tip (factory fitted).
