Chapter 4 – SmartPAC PRO Program Mode
135
SmartPAC PRO uses the following counters:
Strokes counter
Counts the number of cycles made by the press. When the user-programmed preset value has been
reached, SmartPAC PRO top-stops the press and displays a message. The counter resets to zero (0)
when the message has been cleared.
Good Parts counter
Counts the number of strokes made by the press; however it will NOT increment if a fault was
detected by the AutoSetPAC, WaveFormPAC, DiProPAC, or ProPAC during the stroke. SmartPAC
PRO top-stops the press and displays a message when the programmed preset value has been reached.
When the message has been cleared, the counter resets to zero (0).
Total Hits counter
This counter is useful for tracking when die maintenance is required. The Total Hits Counter keeps a
running total of the number of hits on the currently loaded tool. It is incremented each time the press
makes a cycle while the tool is loaded. When the programmed preset has been reached, a flashing
message displays in the Status Box in Run mode. This is the only counter that stores and “carries
over” the actual count when the tool is unloaded and rerun again at a later date.
Batch counters
There are three Batch Counters which can be selectively incremented by either the Strokes or Good
Parts counter. Each batch counter can be set to initiate one of three actions when the programmed
preset is reached: Top Stop, Toggle, or Pulse.
When a Batch counter is set to TOP STOP, SmartPAC PRO top-stops the press and displays a
message, as it does for Strokes and Good Parts counters. This setting is useful when stopping the
press to change bins before resuming production.
NOTICE
BATCH COUNTER SET TO TOGGLE OR PULSE AFFECTS A PROCAMPAC OUTPUT.
– Using ProCamPAC Programmable
When a Batch counter is set to TOGGLE, SmartPAC PRO switches the state of a ProCamPAC
output from Open to Closed or from Closed to Open. This option is useful for activating a parts
diverter.
When a Batch counter is set to PULSE, SmartPAC PRO actuates a ProCamPAC output for a
specified length of time (up to 9999 milliseconds) when the preset is reached. You can connect this
output to any device that needs to be turned on once every fixed number of strokes
Each batch counter is assigned to a specific ProCamPAC channel:
•
Batch 1 to Channel 6
•
Batch 2 to Channel 7
•
Batch 3 to Channel 8.
If you set a Batch counter to either TOGGLE or PULSE, the ProCamPAC channel controlled by
that counter is displayed on the Counters screen, Figure 4-13.
