In most operating systems, Telnet connections are enabled through the Telnet Client program,
which is run in a terminal window (as illustrated above). To start a Telnet connection with the
GWAY-1100,
Open the Telnet program
. This is accomplished by typing “Telnet” into the search box (of
a W
indows computer) or “Telnet” in a terminal window of a Mac or Linux computer.
Once the Telnet program
has opened, type “open {IP address}” where {IP address} repre-
sents the IP address of your GWAY-1100 (e.g., open 192.168.1.14). This will open a con-
nection between your Telnet program and the GWAY-1100.
In order to complete the connection, you must enter the username
1
and password.

a textual menu through which you can show basic information.
UDP
The GWAY-1100 can interact with UDP requests on port 30303 and provide basic information in
return. The primary use for this is discovering any GWAY-1100 on the network, such as with the
EDS Appliance Scanner Software. You can download a copy of this free OW-SERVER discov-
ery application (available for Windows OS, Apple OS X, and Linux) from the EDS website. A link
to the software is provided in the EDS Appliance Scanner section of this manual.
The GWAY-1100 sends a UDP broadcast packet to port 30303 when:
