10.9 Side rails

Without side rails

10.9.1 Single collapsible side rails
– controlled from the top
The single collapsible side rails are components of the bed. The side rails cannot be dismounted. The hospital
personnel is responsible that side rails are locked in the highest position when the patient is on the bed.
To fold side rails down:
Take hold of release mechanism and push side rail towards head end to unlock locking system

to unlock.
Fold side rail down as required

To fold the side rail up push the side rail up. Side rail will click into place and lock automatically.
10.9.2 Single collapsible side rails
– controlled from the bottom
The single collapsible side rails are components of the bed. The side rails cannot be dismounted. The hospital
personnel is responsible that side rails are locked in the highest position when the patient is on the bed.
To fold side rails down:

Fold side rail down as required

To fold side rail up push the side rail up. Side rail will click into
place and lock automatically (you will hear audible
‘click’).
WARNING!
Risk of injury due to crushing!
Ensure that there are no objects or body parts between side rail and mattress platform when folding the
side rail up or down.
Ensure that no body part or object are under the side rail when folding the side rail down.
It is necessary to take extra care and attention when locking the side rails in the top position. Hospital staff
must ensure the side rail is locked in its highest position by pushing the side rail to head and foot end of
the bed. The risk of spontaneous folding of the side rail may occur when the side rail is not properly
locked and it can injure the patient, staff or the third parties.
