8. Permissible mattresses and minimum resident weight
The sensor mat reacts to pressure relief, so observe the specified minimum weight of resi
-
dents/patients in order for the system to reliably recognize bed egress. This depends on the
type of mattress, the patient surface or the bed. The following charts show the weights above
which the system reacts reliably in combination with the different mattresses and patient
surfaces. Nevertheless, test the functionality with each individual resident/patient before use.

The data explicitly relates to wissner-bosserhoff mattresses. We offer no guarantee for these
functions if other mattresses are used. If you are using a different mattress, please check its
functionality and compatibility with the SafeSense
®
Bed-Exit System in advance.
Please consider that the sensor mats should not be used in combination with al-
ternating pressure mattresses. Otherwise, the system cannot transmit reliable si
-
gnals.
The sensor mat is designed to be used with 90 cm wide patient surfaces. If the mat
is used on a wider patient surface, take into account that some areas will not be
covered by the mat. This might trigger the bed exit alarm even if the resident didn‘t
leave the bed.
Attention!
If the resident is lighter than the specified weight, the sensor mat may not detect
him/her leaving the bed, meaning that no signal will be sent to the nurse call sys-
tem or any other signal recipient.
