Interface Type: Select either:
-
PPP modem for dial-up connection
-
PPP over Ethernet (PPPoE)
-
Ethernet Port
Masquerade: Enable or Disable masquerading. Performs IP Masquerading or NAT
(translation of source and destination IP addresses and port numbers upon data packets).
Usually, when you use either the PPP modem or an ETH port for WAN connection,
masquerading must be enabled.
If the Internet provider that you connect to performs the masquerading at its location, you
may leave this option Disabled.
5.3.2. Ethernet
If you use an Ethernet interface for WAN, you must fill in these settings.
Address Type: options are Static or DHCP Assigned.
If you select ”Static”, then you must also fill in the other parameters for an Ethernet address:
IP Address value on the WAN side, Netmask such as 255.255.0.0, the address of
Gateway used for routing.
To properly access the WAN via Ethernet, you must also complete adequately the values for
DNS, which are found in the “Services>DHCP” configuration page (“DHCP Assigned” or
manual, the primary and secondary servers for the domain names (Nameserver 1 and 2).
