100 X Oil Immersion Objective
The 100 X Oil Immersion Objective Lens cannot focus clearly in
air. You will need to use Immersion Oil on the slides cover slip in
order to have a focused image. It is very important to not let the
oil transfer from the slide or lens to any of the other lenses. The
oil will damage the 4x, 10x, and 40x objectives. When using
immersion oil is also important to use the smallest amount
possible so that it will be easier in clean up when finished. When
you have observed with the 100 X, you can wipe the oil off the
objective with a lens tissue and also wipe the oil off the slide. If oil
is left on the lens, it could harden over time and become difficult
to remove. Immersion oil is not included with the scopes.
CARE AND STORAGE OF THE MICROSCOPE
One of the worst enemies of optical instruments is dust. A dust cover has been
provided and should be utilized whenever your microscope is not in use.
Please refer to the “FEATURES” section for specific instructions and cautions to
observe when cleaning optical surfaces. If possible, always avoid removing the
eyepieces and objectives from your microscope. Removing these parts only invites
dust and contamination to enter internal optics of the microscope and
components.
