General safety instructions
Work station safety
a) Keep your workplace clean and well
lit.
Mess or unlit work areas can result in
accidents.
b) Do not use the device in explosive at-
mospheres or near flammable liquids,
gases or dust.
Devices produce sparks that
can ignite vapours or dust.
c) Keep children and other person away
during use of the device.
Electrical safety
a) The connecting plug of the device must
fit in the socket. The plug must not be
modified in any way. Do not use any
adapter plugs with earthed devices.
Unmodified plugs and matching sockets mini
-
mise the risk of an electric shock.
b) Avoid physical contact with earthed
surfaces, such as pipes, heaters,
cookers and refrigerators.
There is an
increased risk of electric shock if your body is
earthed.
c) Keep devices away from rain or mois-
ture.
If water enters the device, there is an
increased risk of electric shock.
d) Do not use the connection cable other
than for its intended use, e.g. for
carrying or suspending the device or
to pull the plug out of the socket. Keep
the connection cable away from heat,
oil, sharp edges or moving device
parts.
Damaged or tangled connection cables
increase the risk of an electric shock.
e) When working with a device out-
doors only use extension leads that
are suitable for outdoor use.
Use of an
outdoor-rated extension lead minimises the risk
of an electric shock.
Safety of persons
a) Always remain alert, remain aware
of what you are doing and take the
utmost care when working with a de-
vice. Do not use any device if you are
tired or under the influence of drugs,
alcohol or medicines.
One moment of
inattention when using the device can result in
severe personal injuries.
b) Wear your personal protective equip-
ment (PPE) which must always include
safety glasses.
The wearing of PPE, such
as a dust mask, non-slip safety shoes, safety
helmet or hearing protection (ear defenders),
dependent on the type and use of the device,
reduces the risk of injury.
c) Prevent unintentional start-ups. Always
make sure that the device is switched
off before you connect it to the power
supply, carry or hold it.
Accidents may oc-
cur if you keep your finger on the switch when
carrying the device or connect the device to the
power supply when it is switched on.
d) Remove adjusting tools or spanners
before switching on the device.
A tool or
spanner, located in a rotating device part can
result in injuries.
e) Avoid an abnormal stance. Ensure that
you can always maintain a safe stand-
ing position and maintain your balance
at all times.
By doing so, you are better able
to control the device in unexpected situations.
f) Wear suitable clothing. Do not wear
loose clothing or jewellery. Keep hair
and clothing away from moving parts.
Loose clothing, jewellery or long hair can be
caught in moving parts.
g) Guard against a false sense of security
resulting from long-term use and famili-
arity with the device and do not ignore
the device safety rules.
Careless behaviour
can result in severe injuries within an instant.
